THANK YOU PASTOR CHRIS

Ooltewah Baptist Church held a special commissioning service and reception for Pastor Chris Gaither and his family on January 29, 2017.

Pastor Chris had recently completed six years as our pastor when he announced that he had accepted the call into full-time missionary service with SCORE International.  He will serve as their leader of missionary recruitment, training and development.  SCORE International is a short-term missions organization founded in 1984 by Ron Bishop.  Originally founded as a sports ministry, SCORE has evolved into a full-service missions organization.  Ooltewah Baptist Church joins SCORE International in sending Pastor Chris Gaither as Christ's ambassador to the world!

Pastor, we love you!  You have the support and prayers of your church family as you transition into this new area of ministry.  Thank you for your faithful teaching, service, and example of following God as He calls us to join Him in His work.

Our motto:

"NOT I, but christ"

We seek to flesh out the mottoNOT I, BUT CHRIST,” because we understand that before we were saved, we tried to do things our own way and it led us to dead end after dead end and futility upon futility.  Like the apostle Paul, we seek to be led by Christ as He lives through us. In Galatians 2:20, he wrote, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.”

OUR MISSION:

"MAKING DISCIPLES BY FOLLOWING CHRIST'S EXAMPLE"

The church’s mission came directly from the Lord Jesus Christ and that is “to make disciples.”  A maturing disciple of Jesus Christ is one who “Embraces the Gospel,” “Ingests His Word” (both corporately and individually) and “Engages Their Platform.”

A member at Ooltewah Baptist Church is someone who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and who has followed through with believer’s baptism by immersion; who is committed to our beliefs, purpose, and values; and who is actively involved in four essentials: worship, community, growth, and service.
